Lets continue our journey with late 90-s anime. This one is good – fun characters, lots of action, cool cell animation from Madhouse with great sound. Video is 1440×1080 resolution encoded by x264 in 10bit profile with CRF=16. PP this time is complex IVTC, dehalo, light denoise/degrain and deband. Audio track is Japanese stereo FLAC tracks in 48kHz 16bit. English dub is stereo AC3 tracks in 48kHz 192kbps.
And the video quality…
WTF!? Blu-ray looks like some kind of remaster, since they re-done HD titles and credits and the image is much more detailed than on DVD. But! Instead of making cool progressive scan with clean 23.976fps (and the film is completely progressive) they went full interlaced with tons of fucked up frames (even with weird motion cross conversion on clean frames), 30fps credits and so on.
Since original footage was full progressive Film source with 23.976fps I’ve applied my MFC methods to make all movie sections play smoothly on that framerate. So the main advantage of this release is clean restored smooth footage – almost free of blends and interlaced combed frames.
Here some screenshot comparison with another recent release.

Synopsis: Yagyu Jubei was Japan’s greatest swordsman. His skill was legendary, but the one enemy he couldn’t conquer was death. Before he died, though, he gave his disciple hope – there would be a successor, and this deserving person would receive all the power and skill of Yagyu Jubei, along with the Lovely Eyepatch.
After 300 years of searching, the disciple finds Nanohana Jiyuu, a rather ordinary girl who has just moved to a new town and started going to a new school. As if going to a new school weren’t stressful enough, now Jiyu is told that she is heir to the legendary talents of Yagyu Jubei. And she will have to put those talents to good use and stop the assassins of the rival clan! (from AniDB)
