Gunsmith Cats OVA 1995 BDRip Remastered

gscHere we are with another gorgeous cell animated OVA from 90-s. Level of details, animation and direction is top notch no doubt. Tons of action, outstanding car chase scene, cool characters, lots of guns and more. Now in great remastered version.

Video is 1440×1080 resolution encoded by x265 in main 10bit profile with CRF=15. PP this time is chromatic abberation correction, light dehalo,  very light denoise/degrain, deband. Audio track is Japanese stereo FLAC in 48kHz 24bit. Chapters included.

Remastered Blu-ray source is good, with some problems – surprisingly low video bit-rate (which cause blocking, especially for chroma planes) and strong chromatic abberation with halos, which was removed.

Here some screenshot comparison with BD and degrained version. Amplified picture showing BD artifacts(hat)

Bonuses included. External English dub in 6ch DTS-HD MA, French dub in FLAC in 48kHz 24bit with french subs from Team246, English subs from BD in several variants – [ASS] OCR’ed retimed with some fixes,  [PGS] SDH subs, [PGS] SDH color subs, [PGS] SDH engdub subs, [PGS] Commentary from director Mori Takeshi and Satō Hiroki, [PGS] Commentary from creator Sonoda Ken’ichi, Arai Masahiro, and Kaza’ana Takanori, [PGS] English commentary from dub actors.

File-size friendly, degrained version.

Synopsis: Girls, guns and grenades! Meet Rally Vincent and Minnie May. By day, they work at the Chicago gun shop that they own. By night (or holidays or week-ends), they moonlight as a pair of bounty hunters called the Gunsmith Cats. Rally is an expert at firearms, being able to judge the condition of a gun at a glance, and an expert marksman. Minnie is younger and less disciplined; and has an obsession with explosives. Lots of explosives. Especially big ones. Together, they form an unbeatable team; much to the consternation of the local ATF bureau. Set in the city of Chicago, Rally and Minnie always seem to be in the midst of gunfights, car chases and general mayhem.

5b2f9aa41689e.jpg!autoxauto.jpgCells at work! This one is so entertaining and refreshing. Cool and colorful art style, fun and cute cell-characters and their relationship. It also gives some educational information about human biology in a very unique way.

Video is 1920×1080 resolution encoded by x265 in main 10bit profile with CRF=16. PP this time is original resolution restoration, 1080p upconvert, light dehalo, chroma shift, light denoise/degrain, deband. Audio tracks are Japanese stereo FLAC in 48kHz 24bit. Chapters included.

Japan Blu-ray source is upscaled from 900p resolution with shifted chroma plane. I’ve restored original picture to make a proper upconvert with retaining 1080p elements and tried to fix chroma plane.

Here some screenshot comparison with BD.

Keijo!!!!!!!! 2016 BDRip

0357f7d5174414f97322a6596f02a67fWhip and hip – that’s all what we need 🙂 . This show is good in so many ways –  sharp and colorful art style, cool battles, fun characters and lots of NICE BODY. Don’t miss it. Video is 1920×1080 resolution encoded by x265 in 10bit profile with CRF=16. PP this time is light aa, light denoise/degrain, deband. Audio tracks are Japanese stereo FLAC in 48kHz 24bit. Chapters included.

Japan Blu-ray source is superior (real 1080p) in terms of image resolution and picture sharpness. However there is some annoying over-sharp aliasing, that I tried to minimize without detail loss. The result can be seen at comparisons.

Here some screenshot comparison with BD. We have all time constant 23.976fps that plays smoothly on true cinema tv.

NCOP NCED included. English subs combined and retimed from Karma,T&A and Metal releases. Retail English subs [PGS] are also available.  External Russian subs from [AOS].

720p version (x265 in 10bit 4:4:4 (to enhance chroma resolution) profile with CRF=17, AAC audio)

Synopsis: The series is set in an alternate reality where a new, women-only, gambling sport known as “keijo”, quickly becomes a fad in Japan since its introduction in the dawn of the 21st century. Keijo matches are held atop floating platforms, referred to as a “Land”, in large water-filled stadiums where swimsuit-clad players fight to incapacitate their opponents or push them out to the water, but they can only hit each other using their breasts or buttocks.

Nozomi Kaminashi is a gifted gymnast who decides to give up her dream of competing in the Olympics and become a keijo player instead, aiming for the high earnings offered there, in order to get herself and her younger siblings out of poverty. As she enters the world of Keijo, Nozomi soon makes new friends and rivals, while learning that the way to fame and fortune in this new, uncommon sport will have more challenges than she ever imagined.

Black Jack TV 2004 R2J DVDRip RAW

title_Chernyjj_Dzhek_Black_Jack_15785_4192What a weird and fun show!

“Black Jack is one of Mr. Tezuka’s most famous works next to Astro boy of course. It portrays the medical world through the eyes unlicensed doctor, Black Jack, as he gets all sorts of unique and life changing tasks and surgeries he must perform to the best of his abilities.”

Video is 1024×576 resolution encoded by x264 in 10bit profile with CRF=17. PP this time is IVTC, complex dehalo, upconvert, light denoise/degrain and deband. Audio track is Japanese stereo FLAC tracks in 48kHz 16bit.

Chapters included.

R2J DVDs have somewhat bad quality. Tons variations of artifacts starting from strong halo, telecine errors, cross conversion and some other artifacts.

For this one I’ve used my MFC methods to get stable and clean progressive video – free of combed frames, interlaced artifacts and other IVTC related stuff.

Here some screenshot comparison with DVD. Video have all time constant 23.976fps that plays smoothly on true cinema tv.

For this release only Japanese subtitles available from R2J itself, I hope someone will make proper subtitles to all episodes in future.

Specials are proper encode (29.97->23.976fps) from WEB-DL release.

Juubee-chan – Lovely Gantai no Himitsu 1999 BDRip

1460629550570Lets continue our journey with late 90-s anime. This one is good – fun characters, lots of action, cool cell animation from Madhouse with great sound. Video is 1440×1080 resolution encoded by x264 in 10bit profile with CRF=16. PP this time is complex IVTC, dehalo, light denoise/degrain and deband. Audio track is Japanese stereo FLAC tracks in 48kHz 16bit. English dub is stereo AC3 tracks in 48kHz 192kbps.

Chapters included.

And the video quality…

WTF!? Blu-ray looks like some kind of remaster, since they re-done HD titles and credits and the image is much more detailed than on DVD. But! Instead of making cool progressive scan with clean 23.976fps (and the film is completely progressive)  they went full interlaced with tons of fucked up frames (even with weird motion cross conversion on clean frames), 30fps credits and so on.

Since original footage was full progressive Film source with 23.976fps I’ve applied my MFC methods to make all movie sections play smoothly on that framerate. So the main advantage of this release is clean restored smooth footage – almost free of blends and interlaced combed frames.

Here some screenshot comparison with another recent release.

English subs are OCRed Retail subs and demuxed R1DVD subs.  Re-synced external Russian subs by Stas.

Detatoko Princess OVA 1997 DVDRip

c02kfd_wiaagtum.jpg largeHere is another hidden gem from 90-s. And the names – Director: Shinbou Akiyuki, Key animation: Kon Satoshi, MC voice: Miyamura Yuko (Souryuu Asuka Langley seiyuu) – you already got it 🙂 Short but great classic fantasy comedy is coming. Video is 768×576 resolution encoded by x264 in 10bit profile with CRF=16. PP this time is IVTC, complex dehalo, upconvert, light denoise/degrain and deband. Audio track is Japanese stereo AC3 tracks in 48kHz 192kbps. English dub is stereo AC3 tracks in 48kHz 192kbps.

Chapters included.

And the video quality…

R1 DVDs are not so good in terms of video (at least bitrate is full). Tons variations of artifacts starting from strong halo, dot crawl, half-blended telecine with ghosting and some other artifacts.

For this one I had to use Automatic ivtc with restoring, since that kind of interlacing is unable to revert perfectly. It looks OK in motion to me, so you can check this out yourself.

Here some screenshot comparison with DVD. You can notice that DVD picture have low contrast that can be compensated in your video player settings (for example – shader 16-235 to 0-255). Video have all time constant 23.976fps that plays smoothly on true cinema tv.

English subs I took from [TMUsubs] release. OCRed subs and demuxed DVD subs also available.  External Russian subs by Glenn.
